Meet our community of training and support providers

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been introducing you to the different people you’ll find in Reach. With so many different providers visiting each week, offering you a different service, we recognised that it’s important that you know what your options are and who you can speak to during your visit or digitally via email, phone or video call. Read our last Q&A here

This week we caught up with Georgina Lewin, Education Coordinator at Blackburne House, to find out more about her role and the support offered by the provider.

Tell us more about Blackburne House and what you can offer.

Blackburne House is a women's college and charity. We aim to empower women through their education and offer wellness support to the women in our community. We are a safe space for women, and we value each and every woman who comes through our doors.

We offer courses in a really wide range of subjects including GCSEs and Functional Skills, IT, Englishto Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Business, Healthcare, Psychology, Counselling, Mental Health, Complementary Therapies and Teacher Training courses. We have options at a range of levels, so regardless of your previous qualifications or experience, we are sure to have an option to set you up on your education journey. We also offer wellness support to our learners and the women in our community, ranging from wellness programmes for mindfulness, yoga and counselling.

How do you help people visiting Reach?

I often visit Reach, around once a month with course information and wellness opportunities and can always arrange 1-2-1 chats for anyone thinking of joining us at Blackburne House.

How does it feel when you help someone to achieve their goals?

The best part of being involved with Blackburne House is seeing women achieve their goals, especially when they first come to us with low confidence. When someone has been away from education for a while or experienced really tough times, seeing them grow and hit their key achievements in terms of education and wellness is something really special.

What would you say to someone who didn’t feel confident coming along to speak to you or wasn’t sure if you could help?

If you are feeling nervous or unsure about getting in touch, please be assured that we are a really friendly team, and Blackburne House is a relaxed and positive place. We are a safe space for women to be themselves, and we will always do our best to help you. We would be so happy to meet you and to help you with your education and wellbeing 🙂

Stay connected

If you don’t feel confident enough to visit Reach in person, or you don’t have the time because of family or work commitments, there are a few different ways you can get in touch. We’re available to speak to over the phone, Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Just call 0151 285 5680 and we can arrange for a phone appointment with the best provider for your needs. Or send us an email to reach@southliverpoolhomes.co.uk and we can take it from there.

We also have a regular email newsletter that you can sign up to. It’s the easiest way to keep up to date with the latest courses, workshops and vacancies to apply for - Subscribe to updates from Reach (mailchi.mp).
